Facebook’s Deep-Fake Detection Challenge

On June 12, 2020, Facebook conducted a deep fake detection challenge. The challenge is to find the real and fake from the bunch of videos. Facebook asked nearly 3500 actors to record videos for this challenge and some videos out of the bunch contain the deep fake. The competition was announced a couple of months ago.

The winners of the competition came up with the solution. In the beginning, the algorithm was no better than a guess. After some twist and turns in the challenge, they managed to reach more than 80% of accuracy in finding the fakes.

Artificial intelligence research is more promising and a step ahead in the technology development. Finding a solution to a problem that can even be solved by AI.

The algorithm came across several dimensions like age, gender, and ethnicity. The data provided by Facebook is representative but this has to work on all data.

The winning model's source code will be available as open-source to spur the rest of the industry into action.

During the United States Presidential Election campaign, the video of Barack Obama was deep faked in his last speech. The speech and statement made shocking. Consequently resulted in the comments and political values.
