The wireless communication technology which uses light to transmit data between devices. This type of technology is called Li-Fi(Light Fidelity). This system is capable of transmitting high-speed data over visible light, infrared light, and ultraviolet spectrum.

The technical difference between the Wi-Fi and Li-Fi, Wi-Fi uses radio frequency to transmit data between devices but Li-Fi uses light. The main ability of Li-Fi is to be used in the area where the electromagnetic interference is restricted like airplane, military, hospital, etc.

At the end-user, the Li-Fi system doesn’t have any complex devices. It just uses a LED light. This system of communication is known as visible light communication.

The system of communication is much safer than  Wi-Fi. Since the light in the Li-Fi system cannot pass through walls and other physical objects. So this communication system is not as much as easier to hack.

The major advantage of Li-Fi system is can be used in electromagnetic sensitive areas. The visible light spectrum is much larger than the radio frequency spectrum. The data transfer rate reached over 224 Gb/sec which is very much faster than broadband and Wi-Fi.
